Our virtual Town Hall Panel Discussion, “Making Sense of the Senseless: a Discussion about Racism and Helping Our Children Understand” on June 14, 2020 was amazing! Our panel, expertly moderated by JJSSCC Mom, Stephanie Pearson-Davis, gave honest perspective and commentary regarding racism, the importance of civic involvement, voting, mental health services, responsible policing, educational programs, social media pointers, and peaceful protesting from a legal perspective.
Our esteemed panel, Mayor of Hazel Crest Vernard Alsberry, Jr., Hazel Crest Police Chief, Mitchell Davis III, Mental Health Therapist Dr. Wanda Parker, Principal Dr. Jerry Lee Anderson, H-F High School, Social Media expert Tyanna McCann and Attorney Eric Mitchell, gave unselfishly of their time and expertise in their respective fields and we can not thank them enough.
The powerful “Pre-Program” set the tone for the Town Hall. Thank you to a fabulous Team of JJSSCC Mothers who banded together and gathered their contacts and resources to make it happen.
Our families left the Town Hall a little more aware and even more energized to remain in the fight to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of our children and all children.
