On June 20-23, 2024, Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois served as the venue for the Mid-Western Regional Teen Leadership Conference, which was chaired by Kimberly Mitchell, a member of our chapter. Under the theme “Black Brilliance: The Original Change Agents,” teens of various ages and abilities gathered at the conference to elect their peers to leadership positions, connect with teens from other chapters, and engage in captivating workshops and competitions. This transformative experience fostered the personal growth and development of each teen. Notably, our Teen Carlos Dillard, Jr. concluded his term as the Regional Teen President by presiding over the conference. Regional Community Impact Chair Leslie Levy, also from our chapter, played a pivotal role in organizing the Foundation Rally and STEM Community Service Activity. Our chapter teens showcased their talents in the Outfit, Oratorical, Skit, and Step Competitions. The conference culminated in a heartfelt tribute to our graduating seniors. The Senior Gala, meticulously planned by our chapter and led by IPP Tracie Hayes and President Deborah Harris, showcased the brilliance and excellence of our Black youth. We are thrilled to celebrate Teen Gregory Mitchell’s successful campaign for the position of Mid-Western Regional Teen Treasurer, and extend special congratulations to Teen Emma Leak for receiving the prestigious Alice L. Peoples Outstanding Senior Award.
We had 28 South Suburban Chicago teens attended TLC and enjoyed a memorable experience with their regional counterparts. In the competition categories, our teens did outstanding and came home with several awards, including:
