Our annual fundraiser, a Golden Twenties Gala, was held on Saturday April 9, 2016 at the Grand Ballroom in Joliet Union Station. The location was a perfect backdrop for a 1920’s themed event. Upon entering the Joliet Union Station each guest was greeted at the door by staff who graciously opened the entry doorway and kindly directed you to the registration tables. The staircase leading to the event area was draped with white curtains that added to the elegance of the evening and set the ambiance in the room. Attendees were entertained throughout the entire evening with sounds from Jazz Artist, Kenya McGuire, several 1920s dance routines performed by a Professional Dance Company, and DJ Sean “Legend” Long as DJ. A Cigar smoking area was located on the Terrace for guests to purchase Cigars and relax with others as they enjoyed the night air. Last but not least, we were ever so fortunate to have former BET and MTV television personality Ananda Lewis as our Mistress of Ceremony for the evening. Her warm spirit permeated the room and provided that extra touch to add to the elegance throughout the room.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, donors, and silent auction patrons, we were able to raise over $20,000 for our scholarship and community service fund.
