JJSSCC’s MLK Day of Service led by Program Director Alison Wright and Chair Mariba Smith-Woods was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who attended, donated food and toiletries and assisted throughout the event. In just 2 hours, 175 bags of food were packed as we do our part to tackle hunger in support of the 2020 Souper Bowl of Caring initiative. We also registered 7 new voters, created anti-bullying cards and crafted caps for preemies with help from our children, teens and guests! Jac Pac Dad, Peter St. Jean led a “Peaceology” presentation on leadership and we heard from a 2020 Census Rep. We were also very fortunate to partner with the Skyline Metropolitan Chicago Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction. Thanks so much to Associate Monica Lewis Fox for the donation of bags from the National Kidney Foundation! The bags were used to pack the donated food and toiletries. Lastly, many thanks to the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle for featuring our activity!
