Our annual fundraiser, Soiree 2017 – A Pink and Blue Affair, dawned a new theme this year. The day party was held on March 12, 2017, at Tuscany Falls in Mokena. Our members and guests showed up in their best pink and blue attire which was a perfect complement to the 1st day of spring.
The signature event included a cigar roller, specialty signature drinks, live entertainment by Ivory Dreams, and another successful silent auction. Our event was hosted by the multi-talented Jossie Harris Thacker, an original “In Living Color”, ‘Fly Girl’ dancer and accomplished actress. Very importantly, our guests had an opportunity to browse the “Hall of Fame”, an informative wall of the chapter’s prior year scholarship recipients.
Our special guest, Alfred Sharp, graced the room with the memory of his wife and our mother member, Bernadette Sharp. He is the founder of the “Bernadette R. Sharp Memorial Scholarship Fund” and has generously contributed to our chapter efforts.
Thanks to our sponsors, donors, and silent auction participants, we were able to raise approximately $25,000 in connection with this year’s fundraiser. The money raised will support our scholarship fund and community service initiatives.
